General Manager

Not only has this been a Hobbs’ family business for generations, it’s also been the business of other families, as well.  Rick Haggard, General Manager, isn’t the first Haggard to work here.  His father Carl was employed by C.M. Hobbs for 43 years until his retirement in 1985.  His grandfather James worked here before that, and a number of uncles and cousins have worked at Hobbs through the years.  In fact, a Haggard has worked at Hobbs for more than 75 years; and Rick has been here for 22 years himself.

Today, as General Manager, Rick oversees all of the daily operations of the nursery, including sales, staffing, processes, inventory and the location of hard-to-find items.  As C.M. Hobbs expands its services and products to include more plant material and hard goods, Rick oversees the integration of teamwork and technology.

Hobbies:  Rick has been a partner in a Sprint car for more than 25 years.  Seems auto racing, as well as horticulture, is in his blood.
